Sinningia canescens (syn. Rechsteineria leucotricha)

These delightful Brazilian Lithophytes have soft velvet leaves which appear from the top of its spherical tuber. These cool grey furry leaves are just a back drop to a bigger show that takes place in the depths of spring. A flurry of nodding salmon pink flowers appear in clusters in the centre of the leaves awaiting a passing hummingbird to smell their sweet nectar. A delightful plant which takes up little room and gives you wonderful returns.

Watering

In S/S water when 90% of the soil has dried out. During the winter months allow the soil to dry out 100% watering very little every 1-2 months if the plant has leaves. If the plant drops its leaves and enters a dormancy period, hold back on watering until new growth emerges. Do not water on the crown of the caudex.
