Mangave 'Praying Hands'

Mangaves are cultivars of hybridised species of Agave and the former genus Manfreda, which is now included within the Agave genus. The ‘Praying Hands’ cultivar looks a little intimidating at first sight - a tight rosette of deep green leaves curl upwards, each with bright red edges, and bright red spikes at the tips. Its curled leaves and deep green shade make it look very much like an artichoke.  

Watering

Water thoroughly and regularly when soil is 100% dry during the spring/summer months. Refrain from watering during the winter months.

Light requirements

Full sun.

Feed

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March - November.

Repotting

This species can live in the same pot for several years. Repotting may only be necessary once every 2-3 years (or longer), once roots begin to protrude out of the drainage holes. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage medium such as perlite, pumice or grit.
