Euphorbia xylophylloides

Native to the arid regions of Madagascar, this almost leafless species grows upwards at first but then eventually sprawls out on all sides. Its branches are flattended, leaf-like and unsymmetrical growths called platyclades. these stretch out and produce a wild shrub, or tree, that can't be tamed.   

Watering

Water when soil is dry 100%. Water lightly (if at all) during winter months.

Light requirements

Full sun.

Feed

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March - November.

Repotting

It can stay in the same pot for a number of years as it is such a slow growing plant. If it does ever become too small for the pot it is in, repot into one size up and use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.
