The stems of these columnar succulents are divided vertically into four sections split equally by rows of spines, creating  interesting shapes becoming more impressive as the stems increase in height and number.  

Watering

Water when soil is dry 100%. Water lightly (if at all) during winter months.

Light requirements

Full sun.

Feed

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March - November.

Repotting

It can stay in the same pot for a number of years as it is such a slow growing plant. If it does ever become too small for the pot it is in, repot into one size up and use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage such as perlite, pumice or grit.
