Cissus quadrangularis

The strange, prominently angled stems of this herbaceous succulent produce fleshy leaves, and it’s a fast-growing, climbing succulent which can grow vines from 50cm up to 2 metres annually. Cissus quadrangularis is a lianescent plant native to India, and its vines can be trimmed back to stop growth getting out of control.

Watering

Water thoroughly and regularly when soil is dry 100% during spring/summer months. Water lightly (if at all) during winter months while the plant is dormant.

Light requirements

Full sun or filtered light.

Repotting

This species can live in the same pot for several years. When the roots become too large for its pot, repot into a slightly larger pot. Use a well draining cactus compost, adding extra drainage medium such as perlite, pumice or grit.

Feed

Use a cactus fertiliser 3 times between March - November.
