Araucaria heterophylla

A relative to the Monkey Puzzle, this indoor conifer is surprisingly easy going. Perfect for a draughty room or cool bathroom, this ancient elegant species does well in lower temperatures and can add a light, airy feeling to a space. We obviously can not skip over the fact that it resembles a certain festive tree - being one of the only conifers that can survive indoors, it is a perfect alternative to the Christmas tree.

Watering

In spring and summer water well after the top 25% of the soil is dry. In winter allow the soil to dry a little before watering sparingly.

Light requirements

Bright, indirect, shade tolerant.

Feed

During spring and summer feed with a nitrogen heavy fertiliser.

Repot every 2 years or alternatively replace the top 10cm of the soil with fresh house plant compost every year.
