Alocasia x amazonica ‘Polly’

A former ‘it’ plant that is still a firm favourite with Alocasia enthusiasts. Its look and feel is almost prehistoric - leaves that are dark green and heart shaped, streaked with luminous white veins and heavily rippled edges that meet to form a distinctive point at the bottom. It is best to water this plant from below to avoid stem rot.

Watering

In S/S water when 30% of the soil has dried out. In A/W allow soil to dry out 60%.

Light requirements

Bright, indirect.

Feed

Use a houseplant fertiliser every 2 - 4 weeks from April - October.

Repotting

Repot when plant is crowding pot, roughly every 1-2 years. Use a well draining house plant compost with an added drainage medium like perlite.
